About the Tour

Step into Albania’s fascinating history and culture on a guided day trip to Kruja, one of the country’s most important historic towns.

Depart from Tirana, Golem, Durrës, or Kamëz in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and travel through the Albanian countryside toward the historic city of Kruja.

Your first destination is Kruja Castle, dramatically positioned on a hill overlooking the surrounding landscape. The castle is closely connected with Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero, who used Kruja as an important stronghold during the resistance against the Ottoman Empire.

Explore the historic castle area and visit the Skanderbeg Museum, where you can learn more about Albania’s medieval history and Skanderbeg’s role in the country’s past.

Continue to the charming Old Bazaar of Kruja, one of Albania’s most famous traditional markets. Enjoy approximately 90 minutes of free time to browse local handicrafts, souvenirs, antiques, traditional products, and other items. You can also use your free time to enjoy a traditional Albanian meal or a coffee at one of the local establishments.

After exploring the bazaar, continue by vehicle along the winding mountain road toward Mount Kruja and the Sari Salltik Shrine.

Located high above Kruja, Sari Salltik offers spectacular panoramic views across western Albania and toward the Adriatic coast. Your guide will introduce you to the cultural and religious significance of the site and explain its connection with the Bektashi tradition.

After visiting Sari Salltik, return to the vehicle and enjoy the scenic drive back to Tirana.

Itinerary

1. Pickup — Tirana, Golem, Durrës, or Kamëz
Meet your driver and guide at your confirmed pickup location.

2. Drive toward Kruja — approximately 60–90 minutes
Travel north through the Albanian countryside toward the historic city of Kruja.

3. Kruja Castle and Skanderbeg Museum
Explore the historic castle complex and visit the Skanderbeg Museum.

4. Old Bazaar — approximately 90 minutes
Enjoy free time to explore the traditional bazaar, shop for souvenirs, take photographs, enjoy coffee, or have lunch.

5. Drive to Mount Kruja — approximately 20 minutes
Travel along the scenic winding mountain road toward Sari Salltik.

6. Sari Salltik Shrine — visit and panoramic views
Discover the shrine and enjoy spectacular views over western Albania and the Adriatic coast.

7. Return journey to Tirana
Relax during the scenic drive back.

8. Drop-off — Tirana, Golem, Durrës, or Kamëz
Return to your original pickup area, generally between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, depending on traffic and tour conditions.
